Where to begin with photo organization? So Many

I was hoping to gain some insight into a good photo organization site or software package that I could begin using to allow me to upload, edit, share and archive my photos. I have a Nikon DSLR and have tried the Picture Project software that comes with it, however, it seems to have some limitations. I like it's ability to edit the photos fairly well but the album sharing isn't quite what I'd like. Can anyone offer any advice on some good ones to try? I find that this it is very time consuming to work with my photos and I want to try to mitigate too many trial & error sessions with products and services that don't fullfil my needs. Please advise

Try Picasa2 from Google. It's free to download and use. It has pretty nice editing capabilities and you can upload to web albums (for free of course). When you download the program it automatically finds your photos and files them on the program for you. Also, any time you add photos from your camera or memory card it adds them as well. It's very quick and simple to use...and best of all it's free. Hope this helps.

I'm really enjoying Aperture for my Mac, and also working with the Nikon NX software that came with my D300. I'm not quite into the Photoshop stage yet, working on learning how to use the camera before manipulating the photos.
