I went out today with my new Rebel XT and 3 CF cards (a 512 and 2 256's).. I took some .jpg's and then changed to RAW format.. took a bunch of photos like that, came home, plugged in the camera, up came Zoombrowser, showed the photos.. I cliicked 'select all' downloaded them, then formatted the card. Did that with 2 of the three cards.. then noticed that the folder on my PC where I DL'd the photos to didn't seem to show as many pics as I remembered taking.. and I noticed that none of the ones that I took in RAW mode were showing up. So fortunately I still had the 3rd card still in the camera.. I 'browsed' the camera using an Explorer window, and noticed all these .cr2 files.. but only the .jpg files were showing in Zoombrowser.. so, I'm now realizing that when I formatted the other two cards, I deleted all the RAW images that didn't show up in the POS Zoombrowser program... GRRRR!!!!
So, now I used an Explorer window to drag all the files from the camera into my photos folder on my PC.. but they're not showing up in the Canon browser utility, not showing up in Paintshop Pro.. not showing up when I try to do "thumbnail" view in the folder in Explorer either.
So what the HECK is a .cr2 file, and how am I supposed to do anything with it????
Excuse my frustration, but I spent ALL day walking around on nature trails, bike trails, etc today to try out my new friggin camera, take a bunch of photos, just to realize that the crappy application that came with the camera won't open them or even recognize them on the camera, and most of them are now GONE!!!!! AAAAAUUUGGGGHHHHHH
