Watch Canon Cameras Evolve in This Short Video History Celebrating 30 Years of the EOS System

Talking Pictures by DCW takes you on a trip down camera memory lane as it pays homage to the 30th anniversary of Canon’s iconic EOS system in the below video. Showing the various film, DSLR and mirroless cameras in the EOS (Electro-Optical System) universe from 1987 to 2017, the 1.5-minute clip demonstrates how much and, in many cases, how little Canon’s EOS models have changed over the years.

Yes, while Canon fans will geek out at seeing all these camera models scroll across the screen, the clip also shows how conservative the company has been in the design of the EOS system. Not that that’s a bad thing. In fact, the firmly traditional Canon recently celebrated its 14th consecutive year of having the number one marketshare in global interchangeable lens cameras. So it must be doing something right!

One thing that might be confusing to some U.S. viewers of the video is that because it was shot by an Australian outlet, the model names are occasionally different from ones you see on these shores. We’re guessing though that true Canon devotees will be able to figure it all out.
