using rebel xt for weddings

would using the rebel xt for weddings be the right camera for the job? i use it now for landscape and floral's. but it seems to me, to look profesional i should use the 30d or 5d. any ideas?

It is the PICTURES that need to to look professional, the camera is immaterial.
I don't believe a non camera geek would know one brand let alone model from another. A backup camera, should your main camera fail, is a basic requisite

Yes for anything as important as a lifetime event like a wedding, a backup camera is manditory! as well as backup everything else

I would say two cameras are a must so you have 1.) a backup camera and 2.) when one memory card suddenly fills up you can just start using the other camera till you can change out memory cards. 3.) one camera can have a wide angle lens and the other a longer zoom lens, using the wide angle say a 18mm- 24mm for group shots.
