USB Bridge Devices

Has anyone had any exeprience with USB Bridge devices -- for transferring memory cards (in camera) to an external hard drive. Here is one I am looking at

Asking cause I will be traveling in March and don't want to take my laptop cause I will end up leaving it in the hotel room..... but I have a small mini 40GB hard drive I can put in the back pocket of my camera bag (which will be with me at all times). Then I could use the bridge device to offload photos from my memory cards to the drive over the course of a week.

Wondering how well do they work, how fast would a 1GB card transfer and how long do their batteries last.

Any dealings or info would be appreciated.

The portable hard drive storage device you can download digital camera storage cards to directly that I have used is the Epson P-3000, which is one of the priciest of its kind, but it is worth it in my view because it has a 4 inch high resolution playback screen that is quite sufficient for editing because the image is so well reproduced you can accurately determine whether a shot is worth keeping or can be discarded.

Thanks for your input. I ended up getting a used Wolverine 6020 (20GB) device from my uncle that replaced it with the Epson device you mentioned. He plans to go to Europe this summer and wanted a large hard drive. So he gave me the old device which all I had to do was buy a smart media to xD adaptor to get it to read my xD cards. Takes about 7 minutes to upload a full 1GB card.
