Underexposed flash shots with D70 and SB800

About two weeks ago after I took two SB800 and one SB600 off commander mode, all shots with SB800 on the D70 hotshoe are underexposed.

This is with my 18-70mm DX (AF-S)lense. But when I put on my 70-300mm (AF) the exposures are fine.

I've poured through the manuels for the camera and flashes. Have re-set menue options on both the camera and flash, and still no luck.

Has anyone ever experienced this or have an idea what may be going on.

Something isn't set correctly or reset correctly. You may have the external flash setting on the camera set for quarter power. Something like that.
