I will be traveling to Nevada soon with a carry on bag full of photo equipment. I am concerned that the airport screeners will give me a hard time regarding my flash bracket. I really don't want to send it through check in baggage because I have had bad luck with lost luggage in the past. Any recommendations?

I went to Souteast Asia last with almost of my gear. I left my Bogen tripod and a Stroboframe flash bracket in check in baggages both ways without any problem. I don't think TSA staff will give you a hard time but they'll inspect everything of course. I had 4 packs of AA battery from Costco, 20 pieces each pack, the X-ray operators were so confused because the shape of it and they had to hand inspect.
