We were headed out to Dallas, Texas on a photography/fossil collecting trip pre-9/11. I decided to carry on the photography equipment and film so that security would not ruin it which too solidly occupied my attention. I forgot about the empty wooden crate which was traveling with us to ship back materials that were too heavy or bulky to pack in the suitcases. I should add that the crate had been loaned to us by a fellow fossil hound, and was locked with a padlock through a hasp. Arriving in Dallas we found the crate splintered, and the lock missing; I was livid demanding an explanation which I soon found by reading the side of the crate on which was emblazoned "munitions" by our own U.S. military. To my embarrassment I had no further comment.
