Undecided between the Canon EF 70-300 4-5.6 USM and the new Tamron AF 70-300mm f/4.0-5.6 SP Di VC USD XLD . Conflicting comments about each, but I suppose either would be acceptable for the price. I am leaning toward the Tamron, but will apprecitate anyone's experience with either lens or further recommendations.
Personally, I would go with the Canon lens. In fact, I'm about to, next month. I have one of the older Tamrons and I'm not that impressed, so I'm replacing it. That may not be a fair comparison but, In general, I've always found OEM equipment to be superior in the long term than third-party equipment...
I agree about OEM accessories, but from all the reviews I have read, most think that the NEW Tamron is a vast improvement over the older lens. It also has a 5 year warranty vs the 1 year Canon warranty. I am a Canon person, but I am also amenable to third-party accessories as long as they have good ratings. My only problem is that there are currently only 12 ratings on Amazon for the Tamron. Thank for your input.
Fuggedaboutit. Ordered the Tamron on 12-25.
