Teleconverter Question

If you put a 2x teleconverter on a f/2.8 lens the f stop drops to f/8. My question what happens to depth of field? Is it equivalent to the f/2.8 or f/8 without the teleconverter?

The 2X teleconverter requires opening the f/2.8 lens 2 more stops, now f/1.4 which is beyond your range for that lens, so you would have to slow your shutter speed by 2X. Depth of field is still that for
f/2.8 Say your hand-held meter shows f/16, then with the converter open it up to f/8 for the shot.Depth of field is now that
for f/8.
