i have a canon rebel and a nikon d50 i have problems taking
photos at night i need to know the seetting i should use
i tryed taking photos of a storm but could not get the right settings

Use a tripod. If you are, you haven't stated so.
This is how I would start.
Set the camera on manual exposure and manual ISO and turn off auto focus. Start at ISO 100 with the lens wide open focused on infinity and bracket through a range of shutter speeds. You don't have to take notes because the exif data in the images will tell you which setting worked the best.
