Take A Shot: A Digital Photography Symposium

On Saturday, September 17th, 2011 the Boston Center for Adult Education (BCAE) will hold “Take a Shot: A Digital Photography Symposium,” the center’s first annual day-long seminar for photography enthusiasts, practitioners, or simply those wishing to learn more about the many styles and techniques involved in the art. Open to students of all levels, the symposium is designed to provide information and technique sharing through various interactive and intensive workshops taught by some of the most recognized photographers in New England including:

Bob Packert, Fashion and Lifestyle Photographer, Contributor to Boston magazine; Chris Padgett, Landscape and Event Photographer, Contributor to Stuff Magazine; Diallo Ferguson, Owner of Visual Affects Studios and Producer of “A Passion 4Fashion TV;” Mike Diskin, Fashion and Lifestyle Photographer and Contributor to Boston Common; Eric Levin, Lifestyle Photographer and Owner of Elevin Studios; Heath Robbins, Food and Lifestyle Photographer; Jason Rich, Author of “How To Do Everything Digital Photography;”  and Joel Benjamin, Fashion and Editorial Photographer.

The day-long symposium, sponsored by Shutterbug magazine and Hunt’s Photo and Video, New England’s largest photography retailer, will be split into a morning and afternoon session with a special luncheon and keynote address from award-winning photojournalist Bill Brett.

The 2011 (1)-day symposium will be held at the Boston Center for Adult Education located at 122 Arlington Street, Boston, MA on September 17th, 2011 from 8:30AM – 7:45PM (EST).  The cost of the symposium is a one-time fee of $175.00 and includes four unique classes, lunch and hand-outs and take-homes from the instructors. Student check-in will begin at 8:30AM where they will receive their workshop schedule.

In addition to the symposium, original work from the various instructors will be displayed on the walls of the BCAE from September 9th, 2011 through September 30th, 2011, as part of the center’s ongoing gallery program. The exhibit is free and open to the public Monday through Friday from 9:00AM to 5:00PM. Guests need only check in at the BCAE’s front desk to see the work of these talented photographers!

COST: The cost is only $175.00 and includes lunch, four workshops and educational handouts.

REGISTRATION:
Registration is now open. Registered students will be able to attend four of the eight workshops listed above. Upon registration, students will receive a form letter via email asking them to select their preferred workshops. As space in each workshop is limited, seats will be reserved on a first come, first serve basis. ADDITIONAL: Students must bring their digital camera and owner’s manual to the symposium.

GALLERY INFO: Free to the public. The exhibit will be open from Friday, September 9th, 2011 through Friday, September 30th, 2011. Exhibit hours are: Monday through Friday, 9:00AM to 5:00PM.
