I found a canon T70 camera and it has this very strange lens. It is a
FD 35-70mm 1:4 AF lens. I can't seen to find anything about this lens other than it being canons first attempt at a auto focus lens. It has some sort of a motor driven AF system on it. This is a very large heavy lens weighing around 1 1/2 pounds! I put batteries in it and it works and seems to be in excellent shape. Is this a rare lens? Any ideas as to the value of this?

Hello. Not a rare lens but an amazing lens indeed marketed in 1981. It is not the first autofocus lens as one can read sometimes on internet : Pentax made a AF lens before this one.
Canon made other AF lenses for the t-80 : 50mm AC, 35-70 AC and 75-200 AC in 1985 but these worked only with the T-80. Value depends on demand as any collector item. I saw it sold for $25 and you can find on the Bay sellers asking $350 (crazy price set for not selling...). Is it for sale ? Regards. I.K.
