I'm new here, and I'm also new to slides and slide projectors. I just inherited hundreds of my grandmother's slides. Most are filed within ARGUS 60 slide trays.
I also inherited an Ektagraphic model E projector and carousal, one of which (the former, I presume) does not work properly (slides don't always drop, carousal does not always move, and when it does move, it often moves in the opposite direction of that which is should).
Anyway, I would very much like to look at the slides and project them for my family, but I don't want to spend a lot of time nor money trying to fix the projector, which I presume would not be a quick and easy fix. This leads me to the following questions:
Can one still purchase a used, inexpensive, working projector that will work with the ARGUS 60 trays, and - if so - what brand/model projector should I be looking for?
Alternately, would I be better off buying a used carousal projector, along with a few extra carousals? The carousal that came with the projector holds 80 slides, but I note that there are carousals for sale on eBay that hold even larger numbers of slides. Are these carousals interchangable?
Finally, if THIS is not the place to ask such questions, I would appreciate any redirection I might be given.
Thanks in advance for any and all assistance!
Best!
Paul
