Sigma 50-500mm?

I have a Nikon D700. In another world, I could afford their long glass. However, I have been looking at the 50-500mm Sigma. It has OS and seems to have some decent reviews. Can someone out there comment on if this is a wise move for me?

I recetly purchased this lens. Great lens. Great quality all the way to at least 400.

Use it with the new D800 and no grain at all all the way through 400. Not taken many photos above 400 yet.
