Shutterbug Photo of the Day: “Sand Dune Arch” by Marion Faria

Today’s Shutterbug Photo of the Day is a gorgeous night sky photo of Arches National Park by Marion Faria. Faria is now in the running to win a $1,000 Canon Pixma Pro-1 photo printer or a $500 Gift Certificate from LensRentals.com in our April Photo of the Month contest. Details on how to enter here.

“This was taken at Arches National Park late at night when the Milky Way was barely visible, which is what happens in January, when the earth doesn't face the center of the galaxy,” Faria writes about the image. “The cave of the arch was lit with one light, while the surrounding rocks were light painted...the area was very difficult to light paint in order to highlight everything important to the image.”

It was photographed with a Canon 5D Mark III and 15mm fisheye lens at f/2.8, ISO 3200 for 25 seconds.

You can see a larger version of Faria’s image in the Shutterbug Photo of the Day gallery here.

If you want to enter Shutterbug Photo of the Day, post an image in the Shutterbug Photo of the Day Gallery and include your real name and some background on the image (how and where it was shot; the story behind the image; gear and settings used etc.) in the description field to qualify.

We will select one Shutterbug Photo of the Day image every month to run as a full-page feature in the magazine.
