:Nikon D50: Is there a way to set how long the shutter stays open so that cars going by at night show up as light streaks? I've went though the manual and searched online but cannot find it or even if the camera can do this.
Saldo,
Time to reread the manual. In shutter priority mode you can select the time the shutter stays open from very short, something like 1/4000 of a second to up to 30 seconds. I'm not sure but the D50 may also have a B setting which means the shutter will stay open until you trigger the shutter again to close. Of course, for these kinds of shots you should use a sturdy tripod or otherwise stabilize your camera very well. Best to use the delayed shutter action to eliminate camera shake from you tripping the shutter or use a remote so no shake at all happens.

I guess I just missed that one page. Thanks for the help. I haven't been using a SLR camera long and I'm just learning how to use all the different settings.
Saldo,
You're welcome. You got yourself a great camera and the more you learn to use it, the more you will love it.
