With the arrival of my new 5D looming on the horizon, is there a preferred method, or product, for sensor cleaning?
I use the same as the 20D and 10D I have been cleaning for what seems like a few years now, the Copperhill method, I will say it seems like the 5D is harder to clean than the others, took me a few tries to get it right.
I can highly recommend the website: www.cleaningdigitalcameras.com
I use method #4, Blowing when there are not too many or too stubborn specks on the sensor. Warning: DO NOT use the Hurricane blower as it spews particles of rubber onto the sensor filter. As a result my Nikon D70 had to be sent to Nikon for cleaning. The Giotto Rocket blowers work well and are available in 3 different sizes. I use a large one at home and a small one goes with me into the field.
I use method #1, Swab and Methanol (Eclipse fluid) if blowing alone won't do the job. It sounds scary at first but really is not too difficult if you have a certain amount of dexterity. I have to use this method less than once every couple of months.
