If you go to the Canon website's support section and query sensor cleaning Canon has both their own service centers in several locations, as well as licensed independent service centers covering many different cities in the country.

I recently had my Canon 5D sensor cleaned at one of Canon's Service centers. I packed the camera body in its box and shipped it to the service center and had it back within a week. Inexpensive and an excellent cleaning job.

It is claimed that many professional repair and even Canon uses the SensorKlear pens. Be careful however - there are imitations out there ( many are drawn by the similarity and lower prices), so her is the real mccoy: Just foloow directions and take care, or as Mr Brooks, send it out.

I usually am confident doing it myself with most everything photographic, but sensor cleaning I would much rather entrust to someone who practices the skill every day than fumble myself and f.... up an expensive camera.

Yes, best to leave to others some things especially when not sure or ... . -- and send to the camera maker (or well known service center) rather than a shop that is unknown. Usually oops when it comes to expensive or delicate equipment is a short word for expensive repair.

Sorry friend but any Canon service center or independent Canon service is responsible to the extent that if they break it they have bought it, and I am sure the same is true of other name brands like Sony or Nikon. Recently a friend had a very expensive Apple Mac computer that needed repair and he sent it in to Apple. They were slow getting it done and my friend complained and he got a brand new computer from Apple.

There are good companies and products out there that provide reliable service and treat their customers with care. But it is up to buyers to find out who to trust, ignorance isn't bliss.

I believe you mis-understood me -- I was speaking of the individual camera owner dooing the oops. I thought it obvious that the repair facility would be obligated to (and I am sure without telling they fouled up)return in (GWO) good working order -- it used to be that way and I am sure it still is. So, I felt no obligation to refer to repair facilities since I mentioned none. I did mention; however, that many repair facilities do use the Klear Sensor cleaner by lens pen -- to show it is a viable product to use, naturally with care, common sense, and ability.
