I need help! I am in need of a good web site that one can use to sell thier photos. I am looking for a service that offers customers more than just prints. I saw an article/feature on a site somewhere that does prints as well as tshirts, mugs, and more. I have looked at smugmug.com, but it is not inclusive enough. At this point, shutterfly is out of the question because of firewall/content filtering issues that cause it to display improperly. If there was an earlier and similar post n this, please let me know. I appreciate any help you guys can offer!
Try dotphoto.com. I like it.
Has anyone ever sold photos successfully from one of those photo sharing sites? Online stock agencies don't work unless you're happy with a few pennies per image and online galleries don't work and change upwards of 50% to cover their expenses. Short of selling through Getty, I've never heard of a photographer making substantial sales except off their own web site.
No sales at all. I was on stock photo agency site (Photosights) for about a year with no results. Interestingly, when I first joined the site had a users' forum where one of the FAQs was "Has anyone actually sold anything?". Photosights eventually pulled the forum.
I'm currently in an on-line gallery, with no sales since I joined in June. At least there I get an occasional e-mailed question about my work, which is more than I got on Photosights. The gallery is Yessy, and my stuff is at www.yessy.com/lightontheland
I really appreciate the input, but let me steer this in the right direction if I may! I do a lot of sports photography centered around high scholl athletics. The idea is to provide the images for sale to the athletes themselves, thier families, and anyone else who wants them. This is not for stock. (Just clarifiying, thanks!)
You're not just looking for a web site to sell photos from, you're looking for a specialized type of site for event photographers. There are a few out there where you just upload the images each time you shoot and the galleries with ordering information are created automatically. Here's one that came up in a Google search for "web sites for event photographers" called Collages
You are very right. The site that I am working with is www.stumponsports.com. We want to develop thier galleries into s wealth of stuff parents etc. can buy. At this point, I have not been able to look at Colages (your idea); because it is blocked by our content filter here at work. That, by the way, is a big plus to a site; I'd like to be able to manage it from work!
Try www.printroom.com they have a number of event photographers and seem to offer what you're looking for.

If your going to sell the images of atheletes then your going to need to get releases from the atheletes and the leagues. Their rights need to be protected. I'm sorry if this offends you but it is the law. Why not just build yourself a website and have business cards made up to give to the families of the atheletes at the game. This might lead to actual sales.
