Sedona, Arizona Page 2
From the south, head north on I-17 out of Phoenix and take SR 179 into Sedona. From the north there are two main routes south of Flagstaff--I-17 and SR 89--which pass through pine forests for 10 miles before descending into Oak Creek Canyon, a narrow, colorful gorge. Sedona is located at the southern end of the canyon where the cliffs make way for more expansive views.
Where To Stay
There are over 100 motels, hotels and resorts in the Sedona area, and many are upscale in nature. To name just a few:
Briar Patch Inn Bed & Breakfast
Classical music is performed six mornings a week at this 18-unit B&B located on 8.5 acres bordering Oak Creek. The cottages feature southwest furnishings and native American art. There's also a massage gazebo on the grounds.
This exclusive resort and spa is situated among the beautiful red rocks of Boynton Canyon. Included in the resort's many recreational activities are five pools (indoor and outdoor), saunas, a putting green, tennis courts, croquet, rental bicycles, spa and a basketball court.
Sky Ranch Lodge
These affordable accommodations are close to the Sedona Airport. The lodge offers a pool with spa, lovely gardens, fireplaces and kitchenettes.
Although snowfall is rare in Sedona in November, the weather is cooling down in this high-desert region. The average daytime temperature is a pleasant 65°, with nighttime temperatures around 40°. Prepare for cool evenings and possible rain.
Layer your clothing during the daytime, especially if you're planning on hiking. Don't forget that the sun can still be surprisingly strong at midday.
