Is there anyplace that is not under some kind of private or public management. Even in a place as wild as Death Valley the Park Rangers will cite you if you are caught disturbing anything in nature. Leave the scissors at home or they may end up being used to cut your water off.

Probably not a good idea. I have moved twigs out of the way and bent grass and twigs to refine the comp w/o destroying the plant material. AND there is always PS to bail you out.

Yes it is true we alter images in PS but to cut flowers is pushing it. After all what makes them all different is their individual aspects. I say leave them alone and catch the spirit of nature.

Or change your angle of view. I can't believe such a high profile magazine makes that kind of recommendation.

If a weed is growing up through the frame, I'll move it out of the way. I may also use a spray bottle to put a fine mist on the blossom. Other than that, I'll leave it alone. If you cut the flower itself, you may change or destroy the very thing that attracted you to the shot to begin with.

I agree Bill. I too have moved a weed or two but other times leave them just the way they are. Later if it does not work I can take it out in PS. Poles also have to go. A flower though is perfection in its present form. Man induced items are not such as lines and poles. We can alter reality in PS but I believe with the content of subject I shoot I focus more on setting the mood of the image.
