Does anyone out there have a GX. I love my camera, but I have this problem when I shoot the first frame it locks and will not advance to the second frame until I run the crank cock the shutter fire it a second time double exsposing that frame then it advances through the other 11 fine. I know by the base of the crank it has a slider if moved allows it to double exspose but I believe I have it in the normal position. according to the book it must be moved in the direction the arrow is in then you can cock the shutter without advancing the film for double exsposure. Now it always does it on the first frame and it does not do it every roll except it has the last two. Could I be moving the slider when loading the film and advancing it to the first frame. It appears to be something I am doing not the camera. Any thoughts here.
It really sounds like a mechanical problem to me.
First, without any film in the camera, set it in the double exposure mode and run it to make very sure exactly where the double exposure click stop is.
Then set it back to the normal mode and run through a roll to see if it is still doing this.
If it is still misbehaving, what kind of warranty did you get with the camera. If I recall correctly, you may have bought it from KEH. If so, give them a call to see what they can do for you.
Dave I am afraid you might be right. If it still does it again I am afraid I am stuck. I bought it at KOH's camera and the warranty is up. I think I might use a roll of film and see if what i am afraid of is true. Thanks Dave not what I wanted to hear but that is life.
I scraficed a roll of film and run it through several times. What i found was when it locked up the crank stopped straight across from the rest place for the crank. If I then put it in the rest position and fired the shutter it locked until I rotated the crank counter clock wise then brought it back to the rest position, Now if when the first frame comes up I rotate counter clock wise until I can put it in the rest position it works fine. So it must be the way I set the position of the crank on the first frame. It is so simple how can I screw this up.
