Does anyone know whether one can remove the front cover from a Minolta Dimage X series camera such as the X, Xi, Xt, Xg?
I seem to recall once hearing that it's no big deal, but don't know where I read that and am kinda' reluctant to open up an otherwise great camera.
We have 2 in the family which need this: an Xi with dust on the inside of the viewfinder and taking-lens cover glass, and an Xg with the little sliding cover stuck in 'down' position.
I sort of think it may be no big deal because of the following experience which may amuse you
My sister's Xi came up missing all but one cover screws while on a cruise, and started to open up like a clam. We fixed it with Duct Tape from the ship's maintenance folks - and it's still working fine a year later!
I'm attaching a photo my sister took with the Xi just after we applied the duct tape: note, 3MP Minolta Xi, HANDHELD pic of a solar eclipse, taken on a ship at sea! That's the planet Venus below & to the right of the sun.
