RAW vs JPG image size

I am new to DSLR photography. I am studing RAW and shooting in RAW and JPG (Large/Fine). I have a Canon EOS 20D.

When I open and compare a RAW and JPG file in Adobe PS CS, the RAW file is measured on the screen at about 10X15. However, the JPG comes in at around 50X32. Yet both files have the same pixel dimensions.

Please help me understand what is going on here.

If the pixel count in Image Size dialog is and should be the same, the picture size can be different if the image resolution is different, which should be proportional. In other words one image may open in Image Size with a pixel count of ???x??? and the picture size is large at a resolution of 72dpi and the same pixel ???x??? count at a resolution of of 240dpi will be correspondingly much smaller in its inches dimensions.
