I just took my first photos in RAW format using my Nikon D80. I downloaded the photos to my computer using the Picture Project v. 1.7 software that came with the camera. I have an older version of Adobe PS (v. 7.0). I cannot get any of the photos to open in PS when I go to the Picture Project files in "My Pictures". What am I missing here?
What you're missing is that Photoshop 7 doesn't have the latest camera raw plugin so it doesn't recognize the file format of newer cameras. You need to download the latest plugin from the Adobe web site and replace the existing one in your Photoshop files.

Another alternative is to open the files in Picture Project and save them as TIFs so you can open them in Photoshop.
I went to the Adobe site as you suggested, but it seems that the new plug-ins available aren't compatible with my older version of Photoshop. If I save a photo as a tiff file do I still have as much infomation as I did with the raw file? Thanks for your reply and help.
