Hello David. I am debating as to which printer to buy. If I use custom profiles on the R380 will the results be equal to the R1400? I don't plan on printing manny larger size prints. My main goal is to obtain high quality prints. Thanks.
Nelson,
The 1400 is Epson's latest dye ink printer model and provides much improved ink quality and print performance over previous photo printers made for moderately serious photographers. The R380 is currently out of stock at Epson, and that may possibly be due to it being slated for a model upgrade. But, it was more of an automated snapshot printer for the less serious user, compared to the 1400.
If controlled print quality is what you want and you prefer a dye ink printer, even if you won't be using the 1400 print size capability, it will probably provide the greatest potential for obtaining high quality photo image qualities in a print.
Thanks EFX for your recommendation and helping me make the right decision.
