question on converter lenses

My digital camera only goes up to 200 mm(same as a 35 camera)I have looked on the internet to try and find a 2x converter to bring that up to 400 mm. I can't use interchangable lenses. I have a minolta dimage a200.

Also, would the quality of the photo go down using a conversion lense. Thanks for your help.

From what I have read, the general opinions are that the OEM equipment is fine, the third party gear may be suspect. As with everything, your opinion of good/bad may be differen.
Have you tried/available digital zoom feature on the camera? How about cropping and sharpening the results. Just a thought.
I have used a .7 WA adapter on my C5050 with good success.

Hi,
You have the same lens as my A2. The barrell is polycarbonic of some type and I wouldn't trust placing that much additional weight on the end of the lens. The OEM lenses are pretty heavy.
