I have just started to explore RAW , and finding it really interesting. Changing the "climate" from overcast to sunny and just by clicking one bottom is something that should be appreciated.:-)
I like to ask you folks, which one of these programs you prefer? Which one is more powerful? Does the processing RAW, by these two programs, are equal ?
CS2, I think, is much better, but I have the 10D version of the Canon software, they may have improved it with the 20D.
Photoshop is pricey. Raw Shooters is a free down load and is really nice, for the price.

by the way, capture one pro is $500.00. Not a bad program, but at that price, I think it's not for me.
In my opinion the best value in obtaining digital camera raw access and processing is what is provided in Adobe Photoshop Elements 3.0. It uses the same "engine" as Camera Raw in PS2, but just has a more limited set of adjustments leaving out all of what I think are mostly esoteric and not very needed "advanced" features in CS2 Camera Raw.
A more sophisticated and what I have found to be an effective way to convert, color correct and adjust digital camera raw files is Lasersoft's latest Silverfast DC VLT, which is more affordable than Phase One, and I find more photographer friendly.
