Promaster Lens

I recently bought a Promaster 11-18mm Digital XR EDO Aspherical Auto Focus Zoom Lens.

I tried to do some research before buying but was unable to find any ratings. I paid in the neighborhood of $500 new. It was listed for around $1000. I was interested in the Tamron 11 - 18mm but the store I buy from was out of stock.

The Promaster seems to be a really good lens but with my lack of knowledge/experience it's tough to say.

I know it's after the fact but if anyone has any feedback on this Promaster type of lens (11 - 18mm) or the company itself, please let me know.

Promaster is a private label name for the Ritz Camera chain. Some are made by Tamron and some by Sigma, possibly others. They do also distribute some via independant dealers.
Most testers and photomags normally don't rate private label items.
