I have a Fuji S3 and the Fuji Hyper-Utility software which is a RAW converter. Can This software "process" RAW images or does it just convert them to TIFF? If it only converts, then it isn't very useful. (I use photoshop 7.0 which does not support RAW.)
Charlie,
All Raw digital camera file formats are proprietary and therefor require aproprietary software to process/convert the data in the Raw file to a bitmap image that can be displayed and used with a computer. Once the software translates the Raw file to standard bitmap data it can be saved in any of the standard file formats. In addition most Raw converters include utilities to make editing adjustments to the image such as brightness, contrast and color balance.
Thanks, David. I have since learned how to use the Fuji Hyper-Utility RAW converter to process the RAW images. A quick call to the fine folks at Fuji identified the small icon in the corner of the screen that opens the RAW processing window.
