Yes, it would seem what you lack is a good photo editing application that would allow "resizing" and support changing the Image physical size dimensions and printing resolution. Adobe Photoshop Elements at under $100 would be a good choice both to do all editing needed for most purposes easily and as a platform to learn how and what to do to obtain the results you want.

Thanks David.So with that being said what is my best options before I get Photoshop.Can I just take my card in with doing basic incamera editing or can I still burn images to disk from my computer and develop them.Is there a difference in the resolution in the pic on the camera versus uploading it to a program on the computer.What do you suggest I look for if I want to put together a portfolio of my images.Would a portfolio of 5x7 images work or should I look at 8x10 to 11x14(if my camera can produce images that big with a quality resolution.I have been trying to do this on my own with no school or help just reading up on ot and thats probably not my best option.If I am a beginner(which I am)where should I go for the most help.

What your camera produces are image files, and I assume in JPEG format. You can transfer, download those files from camera or memory card (if you have an USB card reader) to your computer and store the files on your hard drive. Additionally, you have the option then to archive copies of those files on a CD for a safe storage backup.

The files from what you said originally, have pixel dimensions of 2816x2012 pixels. That pixel information can be scaled to a print size by changing the resolution factor (how many pixels per inch), the 72dpi figure that the files are saved in is screen resolution, if it is changed to a typical printing resolution the image size in inches changes proportionally, for instance 2816x2012 pixels at 240ppi resolution produce a print size image of 11.7x8.3 inches.

If you have an inkjet photo printer for your computer, most come with simple image editing software that allows you to open an image file on your hard drive downloaded and saved from your camera, and it should support scaling the image to different print output sizes.

If you take a memory card or CD to a store like WalMart that has a printing service, the store reads the files and makes prints (there is no developing involved), it is done much the same way you would make prints yourself with an inkjet printer connected to your computer.

Sage advice and direction. Should you want a relative comprehensive printing software, you may try Qimage. Choose the size of print and then, load and it will be resized automatically. There is also provision for paper and cameras. The price is reasonable and the Updates are free forever; whatever, forever means. good luck
