Right, I am the proud new owner of a Nikon D70s, but want to trigger the camera direct from my G4 Powerbook. Problem is, I would like to be able to view and compose the picture on the laptop screen before I take the picture - not after! (i.e. use the laptop as a viewfinder I guess...)
I'm sure I have seen pro's do this, am I missing something (like software) or simply failing to acknowledge the mirror/shutter light on a sensor practicalities!

Yes, hoping that someone has some good news, have found the software for Canon... which is depressing me. Guessing it may have something to do with the s-video lead, but still would think I need some software... Hopefully someone has the magic answer!
The camera manus. have proprietary software that allows one to do exactly what you want. Not all models may be compatible with the software however.
IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO DO THAT! The D70 is an SLR, yo must capture the photo to see it. When you look at the viewfinder you are seeing a reflection on a mirror, not a TV screen like cheaper PHD cameras.
Take the photo and look at the result in Nikview and them use the computer to change the settings if it is not what you wnat and take another photo.
