Over ten years ago I did a lot of on location studio work (fundraiser portraits etc) using film 35mm mostly. At the time I used a set of white lighting studio lights. After selling all those components awhile back I am entering the field once again, only with digital. Can someone please give me some pointers on purchasing studio equipment for doing on location type things that is digital friendly. I loved the while lightning's ..are they precise enough and still as user friendly in the digital market ? Any suggetions would be appreciated !
I still use my old WL10,000 units with both my digitals.
I have added an Alien Bee 400, also from Paul Buff.
if you are used to setting the main light at F11 and the fill at F5.6/8 and shooting at F8, DON"T! shoot at F11. This will decrease the chance of blown highlights with digital.
And I still use the Dyna-Lites I've had for over 20 years. If you're looking to purchase new strobes, consider the Alien Bees: http://www.alienbees.com
It's a highly rated line of portable strobes from the White Lightning company.
You may wish to conciderer purchasing a DC powered strobe kit like this one:

By the way, there are a lot of options on this site, take a look around. YOu may find something else that you like. The ALZO line is exceptional.
