There has been a very interesting discussion on pixels going on but I don't feel I have gotten the answer i am looking for. How many pixels do you need? I am looking at doing portraiture photography, mostly children, and would need to be able to provide quite large prints. The retailers (and manufacturers) can be very misleading when they advertise their camera's and I am afraid of being fooled into believing that too little wld be adequate. I am looking at buying a Canon EOS-30D. Would I be better off with the 5D?

Chantell,
If as you say you want to produce large prints, then you should want to record the image with as many pixels as you can possibly afford. So the answer between a Canon 30D and a 5D relative to large prints has to favor the 5D.
