I am taking a fairly intense look at CS3 over the holidays for a First Look in the magazine. There are quite a few new and interesting features and they re-designed the Bridge interface. I hope you find them, in addition to that I found CS3 runs faster than CS2 even in beta, that's unusual.

I'm doing the computer upgrade in the early Spring, and have looked at several different ones, but the Mac G-5 seems to be at the top of my list. The Mac has a program that has gained some very good reviews in the past, and kinda wondered if anybody has actually compared it to CS2 or the new CS3?

I think you are referring to Apple's Aperture 1.5. I reviewed the 1.0 version of Aperture in Shutterbug a few issues back, and it is really very effective with many efficient features, but it is not an image editing and creation program like Photoshop, but rather a Digital Camera Raw file image management and file conversion and adjustment application similar to Adobe's LightRoom. In other words comparing CS3 and Aperture would be an apple/orange comparison if you will forgive the unintended pun.

One issue I've noticed some mentioning is that when running a large batch of photos through Image Processor, it won't stay working in the background. It will force itself to the foreground on the screen making it impossible to work in email or whatever you wish to do while the processing is going on. I've also heard of some problems trying to work with very large image files in the range of several 100 meg in size. Don't know if it is isolated to only Intel Mac systems or not as I've not encountered any problems during the brief time I've worked with CS3 on my G5.
