My wife will be traveling to Washington DC and other places of historical interest. I have heard of restrictions on what can and can not be photographed and would like some feed back and advice I can pass along. Thanks for any Help.
A good question that I am also curious about. I live within a reasonable distance and happen to frequent the area often, however no one has ever stopped me from shooting. I am ussualy shooting old buildings.
Best of luck on your adventure,
I've shot pictures right through the iron gates at the White House and chatted with the heavily armed guard in black kevlar while doing so. There wasn't any problem. I suspect it may have been because I was so obviously a tourist there with his kids, but I spent a few days in DC and shot hundreds of images. The only place which was weird was the Holocaust Museum which was
a) a wonderful and moving exhibit, and
b) filled with hard men in suits openly carrying Uzis
But even there they didn't object to my taking pictures.
