i have an original 1988 mvc-a1 sony mavica point and shoot camera with the original disks, playback unit, cases, and cables. I do not have the manual. This was the first sony digital camera released to the public, and it recorded video fields to the disk. It also could record 9.6 seconds of sound. Although mechanically, it seems to be working, I cannot
see the pictures on the disks now. Wondering if anyone has an
idea of the value of this vintage item.
thanks,
Larry
Wow, another Mavica survivor! I had one that I used when I was teaching at a community college in San Diego - great for pre-laptop slide shows. If I remember correctly, there was a separate module that you needed to convert the image on disk to NTSC video for TV display.
Back before I let mine go at a garage sale for a couple of bucks, I checked eBay to see what the value might be. The few I found weren't getting a lot of respect. That was about three years ago, and you might check it again. Without the playback module, I doubt you'd get much for it - but good luck, anyway......
Throw it away before you sell it to an unsuspecting person who is thinking that they're purchasing a real digital camera. It only captured at 640x480 and had terrible stair stepping.

i do have the playback module also.
If you can get it working again, it might be fun to use. You might be better off keeping it until it's old enough to be a "classic" :-)
