Given the size of a digital sensor, can we determine an optimal resolution?
While, in general, more pixels is better, this is probably true only up to a point because as the number of pixels increases, so does the noise. Therefore, it seems that at some point, increasing the number of pixels starts to decrease the overall quality of the image. Thus, at this point we have the optimal number of pixels (if my reasoning is correct).
Thoughts on this? Thanks.
