Actually, mine is an OM1 - but hey, close enough! I think you'll love it. Passing on the power drive was a good idea, unless you're shooting sports or celebrities. One less set of batteries to worry about. Good luck.......

Yes, I agree, I don't really need a "film-burner".

The OM2n has all the manual freedom of the OM1 but, in addition, it has an aperture-priority automatic exposure mode.

Interestingly, there are two light-metering systems (in the same camera), a CdS meter for the "manual" mode and a separate TTL "off the film" silicon cell meter for the "auto" mode.

In looks the OM1 and the OM2n are almost identical, except for the largeish on-off/manual-auto switch on the OM2n.

The camera is tiny compared to most other makes!

I have already started to put a few shots through (I have a two weeks approval period within which I can return it, if not satisfied)

I was lucky to get a very nice (little used) "ready case" along with it, and -in general- the camera appears to be in very good condition cosmetically and mechanically: time will tell.

I'm already shopping around for a nice 24, 28, or 35mm lens, as I find the 50/1.8 a little constraining (narrow).

I really like the 50mm f/1.8 Zuiko glass. It's perfect for my main use for the OM-1 as a walk-around camera. About the only other thing I use it for is some close-up shots of flowers. I have a surprisingly good CFC 100mm macro lens for that. So far, at least, I haven't felt the need for a wide-angle lens for my toy.....

Well, got my first film back (Fuji Superia, 100 ISO, 24x.)

Very satisfactory.

In order to give the camera a proper opportunity to show its paces, I stuck to on-board exposure metering (mainly in Aperture Priority auto, as designed, with manual EC as I judged fit at the time (for side-lighting and back-lighting).

I used the 50mm f/1.8 that it came with.

Not one failure!

Since I put this film through I have acquired a 100mm f/2.8 Olympus OM lens (had intended to get a 35 or 28mm, but none were available at the time), which I tried out last weekend: the film is with the processors as we speak.

I was much surprised with the great near-focusing capability of the 100mm lens: rose or apple-sized objects are quite capable of filling the frame.

I did obtain some add-on "enlarging filters" and played around with them as well, but, unless getting into acorn sized objects (or smaller), even a 1x "magnifying filter" is a bit of overkill.

Can't wait to see how it all turns out!
