Hey guys, I have an Olympus OM1 that i just got recently. During normal use, the film advance jammed and the shutter release will not depress. Ive been to my local camera shop and they took a look at it, and recommended a local independent repairman; and ive also called olympus to find out about repair, and they said they won't repair it anymore, they will only accept it for a trade in. Has anyone had this problem or have suggestions?
Thanks!
Ian

Does the OM 1 have an electronic shutter or a manual one?
If electronic, is the mirror locked up?
Take out the batteries nd replace them.
I had a similar problem with an OM PC.

The OM-1 is completely mechanical. The only battery required is for the TTL meter, and it doesn't affect basic operation.
Ian, if you're in the U.S., you might contact KEH repair at www.keh.com, and send the camera to them for an estimate. I think the camera is worth fixing, if it won't cost an arm and a leg. In any case, KEH would probably take it in trade on another OM-1!
Good luck.....
