I am considering upgrading to the Olympus 7.1 MP camera, model SP-310. Has anyone read any reviews on this camera? I am relatively new to digital photography, so being user friendly would be a big selling point. If someone has information about a comparable camera, it would be appreciated. This camera is currently selling for approximately $400.00 in Canadian dollars. Is it worth that kind of money?

I don't know what you're upgrading from, but I just got the Olympus SP500UZ about 2 weeks ago- my first digital. It was about 300 USD at BHPhoto.
I really like it so far- pretty easy to use, a little disappointed with the manual focusing, but I suppose it will be pretty tough on any camera that does not have a ring on the lense like film SLR I'm used to- but the autofocus does great, even in low light.
Also a little disppointed in the shutter lag- it seems a little longer than the .01 seconds I've seen it as having, closer to 1/4 or 1/2 at times- bummer if you're shooting kids or sports- but again, it's a $300 P and S, and we can't have it all for 300 bucks.
All in all, I'd recommend the SP500 as a first digital. Great quality for buck, IMO.
