Hello all, I know that some of the people on these boards are Grads of NYIP. I just got the info today, and I'm reallt tempted to enrole in the program, but I want to know the opinion of the people who have already been through the program. Honestly, there is not much options for me in this area education wise. As for my level of photography you can check those out at my photo page Not totally beginner, but not formally trained either. Please let me know so I can make an educated decision. Thanks
Hi Sam,
There are a couple of us here who have taken the program and reccommend it highly. Do a search in the forum.
You might also visit www.nyip.com if you haven't already.
There has ben extensive discussion also on the POP photo boards.
Hi, Sameh,
You're about where I was when I started the NYIP course, and it was extremely worthwhile. First you will learn the basics of photography, then move on to techniques in specialized areas of interest (portraiture, architecture, weddings, etc.) Since the course not only about photography per se but how to make money with it, there is not a lot of information about fine art photography. Even so, the course will get you headed in the right direction for just about anything you want to do, once you learn the basics. NYIP has been around since 1915, so they must be doing something right. Go for it!
Howdy,
I am a graduate of NYIP back in 1965. I highly recommend it for a good photographic education.
Thank you for the info very much. I have the catalog and I'm probably about 85% going to go with it. Now I just have to fit it in the budget.
