Hi everyone!!! I'm quite new to this as well as digital photography, so I need some help. Recently I received a Digital Rebel XTI and it great, but when I send my pics to the lab (Target or Walmart), they sometimes cut off heads of people in certain size prints. This normally happens in 4x6 or 5x7. Not sure how to correct. I use Mircosoft digital image. Thanks for you help.
You have to understand proportion and how your 3:4 digital files will print in standard photographic sizes. Those automated machines do a great job but they can only work with what you give them. So you have to size so one dimension fits and add canvas so that the other dimension fits. Then it will print without cropping but will have borders so you don't loose any image.
Here's an example picture from my tips page of getting pictures printed at Costco or Wal-Mart:

Thanks for the reply, I'll begin working on this right away.
You may want to leave a 25 pixel trim area because there is a slight crop into image area. Or make sure there is nothing important against the edge of the image file.
