not able to use raw pics

Hello. I have a canon xt and also ps cs2. When I take pice in raw format I am not able to view them when I click on the icon. I am usually working right from the flashcard. Should I move the pics to a folder? When ever I click on a raw pic it says not in the right format? Any help would be graet.

First, move the images to a folder, preferably using a card reader. Make sure you have the latest version of Adobe Camera Raw(ACR) downloaded from the Adobe website. You should be able to open the RAW images in ACR after that.

Or, you can use Canon's EOS Utility to open the images, convert them to TIFF and save them. I recommend ACR, however.....

I think you're saying that you cannot see the thumbnail preview in Windows folders... right? If that is the case is because Windows doesn't "Understand" the RAW format. Microsoft has released an add-on (you find it on their website, just search for RAW in their download section) to preview RAW but the problem is that it hasn't been updated in a year and it doesn't work with the many flavors of RAW out there. It doesn't work with the EOS 30D version, but try the XT, it might.
If you want to open your RAW images directly in Photoshop by clicking on them you need to associate them first: right-click on an image ---> Properties ---> Opens With (and select Photoshop). Make sure you have the Adobe Camera RAW plugin installed first (free from the Adobe website).
