Nikon N80 Lens question

I have a Nikon N80 that I bought a few years back. I currently have a Promaster 28-105mm lens as my standard. I am wanting to purchase a new lens for zooming. Primarily I am looking for something that will work in concert arenas, wildlife, and even of jets as they are taking off.

I don't have a clue what to look at. I love my promaster lens but i'd be happy with anything where I can get a good distance zoom and a sharp image. I can only afford one lens, so I want the most powerful I can get. Can anyone advise what lense range I should be looking at?

Hi rodeo,
Something in the 70-200mm range would be the logical progression in lenses. Some wildlife shots may require a longer lens, 300+ for mammals and birds, but might be too unweildy for constrained space at a concert and too slow if cost is a factor.

Believe it or not, that 28-105 lens you already have is arguably the best all around focal length to have.
There are some 28-300 lenses out there, but an 11x zoom range may compromise sharpness at the longer focal lengths and be too slow for low light work,IMHO.

Nikon has I believe, two 70-300 lenses, the better being the ED version. With good technique one can handhold the 70-300 at 300mm. Pairs nicely with the N80.
