Anyone reading this forum purchase the new full frame digital body from Nikon?
I picked up the D3 and the 17-35mm F2.8 zoom lens last Friday. I've been waiting for years to be able to use my macro lenses the way they were designed to be used.

Nice combo lens and camera Larry. I considered upgrading to the D3 but cannot justify it for myself. I hope to just get a better lens for my D200.
I'm using the D3 to shoot artwork for artists. I just shot six images last night for a wooded toy maker

I'm using studio strobes bounced into large white umbrellas. I love the quality of the light and that I'm getting colors that look like Kodachrome.
Larry the color is great. Are you using the 17-35 lens for these shots?
I'm using the 60mm macro and am considering the 85mm PC macro. I always use macro lenses (I have the 55, 60, 105 and 200) for shooting still lifes or product shots.
I returned the 17-35mm as it was blurry in the corners at 17mm and f2.8.
THIS IS MY FIRST POST................................anyway 16 days with my d300 ive done one macro shooting and guess what I forgot all about my live view!da huh?i cant believe i forgot.thats what the live view will be fantastic for is macro.especially with manual focus so as to avoid viewfinder/lcd screen blackout of slow AF.
