A major photographic publication reported that testing showed that the resolution and color accuracy of the 10MP APS-size sensor Nikon D200 (US$1700) were higher than for the 12MP full-size sensor Canon EOS 5 (US$3000). Apparently, a bigger, more expensive sensor with more pixels doesn't necessarily translate into higher resolution or better color accuracy.
Nikon's decision to use the APS-size sensor and the execution of their plans for now seem to be paying of big-time in terms of cost, resolution and color accuracy.
