I use an Apple iMac and print giclees. I assume--from reading the pitiful instruction book--I need to set up the 5000 to match my Mac LCD monitor, not the printer. So, do I use Apple RGB or sRGB or Adobe RGB.
For a $1,000 I think Nikon is negligent in such a poor instruction book.

Your Coolpix 5000 came out in September 2001 and is close to five years old now. If you are using Photoshop, I would use Adobe RGB in both Photoshop and the camera.
You also didn't mention what imaging program you are using??
Some are only capable of using sRGB.
You didn't mention what printer you are using for your prints?? Some printers don't use the full color gamut of Adobe RGB.
Eventually you are going to have to somehow color balance out all three--the camera, to your imaging program, to your computer screen, and to the printer itself.
We are going to need a little more information from you in order to properly guide you.
My Coolscan 5000 scans and gives me tagged files in the Adobe RGB color space, which is my working space in Photoshop. Fortunately the scanner batch scans to a folder so I don't have to open the images in Photoshop until I'm ready.

My error. I thought you were referring to a camera. Iagree with Larry on this.
