Nikon 500 VR f 4.0

Hello Nikoners, I have been trying to find out what is taking sooo long for the 500mm VR F4.0 lens to be available. I have had one on order from Roberts since December. I have tried to call Nikon direct but that is a difficult thing to do. Their email responses are quite uninforming. Any thoughts from fellow Nikon users?

I used to own the original 500mm F4P and found it to be an outstanding lens in both sharpness and contrast.

It seems that either it hasn't been released yet or is constantly back ordered. B&H shows it as new, coming soon. Though extremely high in price, Nikon super telephotos are always in demand and usually go to waiting list people as soon as they are shipped to the stores. You might want to get on a number of waiting lists, provided that they don't require payment in advance.
